Michelle focuses on results-oriented assessments, formulations, management and evaluation of media development programs in conflict and post-conflict environments, emerging democracies and countries in transition. She is available for short- and medium-term consultancies in the field or home-based.
Having taught broadcast journalism at the university level for seven years, Michelle is also an experienced trainer. She has trained journalists in more than twenty countries around the world in topics including conflict sensitive journalism, election reporting and advanced journalism skills. Participants have provided glowing reviews for her interactive sessions, the focus on skills learning and her participatory approach.
Michelle is also an active researcher and published author. She is currently working on a paper for UNDP on media and conflict prevention which will serve as background for a joint UN-World Bank research project on development and conflict prevention. Some of her publications are listed here
